Email response to the Petition for New Cleaners and Improved Building Cleaning Standards

This is a quick response from one member of the board. The following steps need to be completed before we can hire new cleaners


  1. 300 Cambridge must create a plan to remove all personal items from the hallways and stairwells. The plan needs to be agreed to by the cluster members and approved by the board, as it is a long-term change. Storing personal items in the hallway doesn’t meet fire safety standards, and it increases the costs of cleaners. 


  2. 300 Cambridge needs to provide the board with quotes from three different cleaning companies. The board will look at our quotes and recommendations when deciding. They provided a budget.


Note: I contacted multiple apartment maintenance companies to confirm the extra costs. Because working around objects slows down the cleaners, these companies:

a) don't accept a contracts with a buildings that have items personal items in the cleaning areas

b) add an extra charge to the contract
